Catrina Makeup

The Day of the Dead isn't a holiday of fear — it's a holiday of love, and its face is the Catrina.
All of Mexico honors those who are no longer with us through color, joy, and the iconic skull makeup that UNESCO recognizes as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Get made up as a Catrina or Catrín with a professional artist, and become part of the celebration — not just a spectator.
Get Your Makeup Done With Us!
Don't end up with panda eyes. It's easy to find street makeup artists working in a rush, in the middle of the crowd waiting for the parade — with no real time for a proper design, using cheap products that were never meant for skin. The result: colors that smudge with sweat or a drop of rain, lines that stain your clothes, and makeup that takes forever to remove (and sometimes leaves your skin irritated). You end up with panda eyes instead of a Catrina look — and that's how your Day of the Dead photos turn out.

Here, it's different. We set up a session with a professional artist who actually has the time to create the design you chose — not whatever she managed to fit in between clients. We use hypoallergenic products designed to protect your skin, safe even for the youngest members of the family (the service is available from age 5). And the makeup holds up: walk, dance, take photos all day long — it stays with you until you decide to wash it off, with soap and water, whenever you want.

Why the Catrina?
The Catrina wasn't always called that. She was born in 1910 from the pen of engraver José Guadalupe Posada, who drew her as a female skull wearing a lavish European-style hat — a mockery of Mexicans who rejected their indigenous roots to appear more sophisticated than they were. Posada named her "La Calavera Garbancera."
Nearly four decades later, muralist Diego Rivera rescued her, dressed her fully, and gave her the name we know today, featuring her in his famous mural "Dream of a Sunday Afternoon in Alameda Park."
Since then, the Catrina has become the best-loved face of the Day of the Dead: an elegant reminder that in the face of death, we are all equal — regardless of money, name, or status.
Choose your level of transformation:
Classic Catrina (30 min): the most iconic design — black-and-white lines and contours, elegant and timeless.
Floral Catrina (45 min): adds flowers and vibrant color across the cheeks and forehead for a more elaborate look.
Couture Catrina (60 min): the most artistic level, with rhinestones, textures, and fine details worthy of an editorial shoot.
Your session includes:
- 100% personalized makeup, designed by a professional artist with over 10 years of experience — not a template repeated on every client.
- Hypoallergenic materials, designed to protect your skin, no matter your age.
- A finish that lasts all day (and night): walk, dance, take photos as many times as you want — it stays with you until you decide to wash it off, with soap and water.
- Digital photos of your session and your final look, so you can take the memory home with you.
All of this happens at a boutique beauty studio in Roma Norte, one of the most artistic and photogenic corners of Mexico City. The service is open to the whole family from age 5, with a Catrina or Catrín option.
This is a service 100% focused on artistic makeup — your face is the star. It doesn't include costumes, accessories, or contact lenses; the entire appointment is dedicated to making sure your face design is flawless.
